Could The Rock’s Comic Book Movie Brighten Up the DCEU?

The dark and gritty DC Cinematic Universe might be getting a little brighter in the near future. At least that’s what The Rock seems to be suggesting. The People’s Champion has been attached to DC’s upcoming Shazam movie for a while now and he recently took to Instagram to give some exciting developments on the project. Attached to a pic of him looking badass standing in front of the DC logo was this quote: “Had a very cool and strategic meeting with the heads of DC about their entire universe. As a hard core DC fan, to get a real sense of the tonal shifts and developments coming in these future movies has me fired up. Something we, as DC fans have all been waiting for for a very long time. Hope, optimism & FUN.”

First of all, no surprise that The Rock is a DC fan. He totally seems like the kind of guy who says Superman is his favorite superhero without a trace of irony. But secondly, this is definitely an announcement all DC fans have been waiting for. No one wants to hate on Superman or Batman movies, but it would be nice if they had room for a little fun alongside all the somber brooding. And if there’s one person in Hollywood capable of bringing that sense of fun to a project it’s the Rock. He seems like the perfect guy to save the DCEU. Even if he has to do it playing a villain.

But what do you guys think. Is this direction you want to see the DCEU take or are you going to miss the visionary visions of visionary director Zack Snyder? Let us know in the comments.
