Conan O’Brien Parodies GAME OF THRONES, and Makes a Damn Good Melisandre

San Diego Comic-Con is officially behind us. While I’m sure we’re all busy trying desperately to catch up on sleep and overcoming those post-con blues, Conan O’Brien is here with a little something to help ease our transition back into the real world. Last night on Conan, we got a rare glimpse into O’Brien’s life behind the scenes while he’s out on the road, as well as a terrifying glimpse into O’Brien’s true form.

Indeed, without his powerful and stylish amulet, we got to witness our dear Coco turn back into his true self: a frighteningly old, withered man. Honestly, his random tip of the hat to Game of Thrones and Melisandre was spot-on and nothing short of hilarious, as we watched him try to find some somber rest for his ancient body while being interrupted by Andy Daly, the overzealous bellhop. In addition to being a solid parody of Game of Thrones, it’s also not a bad representation of returning home and finally getting out of that uncomfortable cosplay after a long, eventful comic con weekend.

Of course, the most important lesson from O’Brien’s parody is to always, always make sure you leave your hotel room with your room key, especially when you’re also secretly a crazy ancient priest or priestess and are walking around stark naked in your true form. Explaining the powers of your mystical amulet is always a tough conversation to have with other hotel guests over the complimentary continental breakfast, am I right? Though the “naked in my true form” tale is definitely going to be a fun story for O’Brien to tell at parties later…

What do you think of Conan O’Brien’s Game of Thrones nod? Are you surprised by his true form, or did you suspect he was secretly an ancient servant of the Lord of Light from day one? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
