You might be thinking to yourself, “The Simpsons did it!” but beginning on September 6 2017, an eight-day South Park marathon featuring 254 episodes will air all-day, every day on Comedy Central until the season 21 premiere on Wednesday, September 13 at 10:00 p.m.
Can audiences handle that much of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman? Will we come out the other side with a new understanding of comedy? Will it hurt our brains to see the technological advancements the show has had from the 1990s to present day? The answers to all of these are… well… they’re subjective and really up to you to figure out. However, we’re beyond excited for this marathon and cannot believe the show has come as far as it has since the early days of construction paper stop-motion.
During the eight day marathon, Comedy Central will air The Daily Show with Trevor Noah in its regularly scheduled time slot but otherwise it’ll wall-to-wall South Park. Additionally (and this might be our favorite part), the network announced Twitter emojis that will go live on Wednesday, September 13 and last throughout the season. Fans will be able to tweet #SouthPark, #NewSouthPark, #SouthParkPremiere, #SouthPark21, and #Cartman. Oh, and they also made our dreams come true by giving us a #Memberberries emoji that we hope sticks around forever so we can ‘member everything!
Are you going to watch all 254 episodes? Is it far too poetic that a non-stop marathon of South Park is exactly something The Simpsons has already done?
Let’s discuss in the comments below!
