Colin Trevorrow Won’t Direct Next JURASSIC PARK Sequel

Jurassic World is set revitalize the long dormant Jurassic Park franchise in just over a week. Early box office projections have Jurassic World opening with over $100 million, which pretty much guarantees another sequel. But there’s at least one player from the Jurassic World creative team who won’t be fully on board for that.

During the Jurassic World press conference in Paris, director Colin Trevorrow was asked if he would return to direct another sequel in the franchise. “Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie,” replied Trevorrow. “I would be involved in some way, but not as director.”

Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly, played key roles in bringing the Jurassic Park franchise back to the big screen, including writing new drafts of the Jurassic World screenplay by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. During a recent Writers Guild of America arbitration, Jaffa and Silver were awarded the coveted “story by” credit and shared credit on the screenplay with Trevorrow and Connolly.

Prior to Jurassic World, Trevorrow helmed the comedy Safety Not Guaranteed. Trevorrow is currently attached to Book of Henry and Intelligent Life, among other projects.

Jurassic World takes place 22 years after the original Jurassic Park and introduces Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady, the new main character of the franchise. Bryce Dallas Howard costars in the film alongside Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, BD Wong, Omar Sy, and Judy Greer. Jurassic World opens on Friday, June 12, 2015.

Who should be the director of the next Jurassic Park film? And what film do you want Trevorrow to direct next? Let us know in the comment section below!
