Classic DOCTOR WHO Panel Will Premiere Reconstructed Lost Episode at SDCC

Without giving TOO much away, I think it’s pretty clear from the final moments of the Doctor Who Series 10 finale, and the promise of what’s to come in the 2017 Christmas special, that a renewed interest in the classic series is boiling. For quite a long while, there weren’t many places to see the classic Doctor Who serials that originally aired between 1963 and 1989. But now, we’ve got BritBox, the streaming service that offers heaps and gobs of British television of the past, including the largest classic Doctor Who catalog anywhere on the net. It’s this classic period in the show’s history we’ll be discussing at the Classic Doctor Who panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

That’s right, I did see “we.” Yours truly, Nerdist’s own humble Whovian, Kyle Anderson, will be moderating the discussion into the first 26 years of Doctor Who along with some truly legendary figures in the Doctor Who realm: Fifth Doctor Peter Davison, Sixth Doctor Colin Baker, and Sophie Aldred, who portrayed the Seventh Doctor’s companion, Ace. Believe me; if anybody’s going to have knowledge of the series’ past, it’s these three.

Wheel-in-Space

But that’s truly not all! People who attend the panel will get something very, very special: a sneak peek at a newly reconstructed lost episode of the Second Doctor story “The Wheel in Space,” coming soon exclusively to BritBox. As many of you may know, 97 episodes from the 1960s are currently missing. But BritBox will soon have reconstructions, and you’ll get a glimpse if you join us for some good ol’ classic Doctor Who fun.

The Classic Doctor Who panel will take place on Thursday, July 20, at 5:00pm in the Indigo Ballroom in the Hilton Bayfront Hotel. Two Doctors, one companion, lost episode goodness, memories, and one of your favorite Nerdist people (maybe, I dunno), all in one place! It’s bound to be fantastic!

Are you going to join us? What’re your favorite Classic Doctor Who stories? Let me know in the comments below!
