“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.” That was Doc Brown’s famous quote from Back to the Future. Today, the future is here, and though we still need roads, the world has changed immeasurably since the iconic time-travel film won our hearts.

Today is also Back to the Future Day, the official celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Back to the Future. During Back to the Future 2, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) time traveled to October 21, 2015 and witnessed a variety of amazing technological advancements that have yet to come to pass in reality.

To celebrate Back to the Future Day, Toyota has reunited Fox and Lloyd for a Back to the Future themed short in which Go Tech Yourself host Mischa Pollack shows them that perhaps Mr. Fusion wasn’t so far-fetched after all. There may actually be a way to turn garbage into fuel. All things considered, that would be a pretty fair trade off for not giving us hoverboards that work like the ones in the movie.

But the greatest part about this video is seeing Lloyd and Fox play off of each other as they talk about the Back to the Future tech that they want to see in real life. These two performers have such natural chemistry that it’s fun to see them back together again after so much time. The video also contains a lot of callbacks to the Back to the Future films, with “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and the News and Alan Silvestri’s score playing in the background.
