Chloe Bennet Chooses a Side for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Next year, Captain America and Iron Man are going head-to-head in Captain America: Civil War, and most of the heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are taking sides. Yesterday, Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee picked his side in the upcoming conflict. Today, Chloe Bennet picked a side for her character, Daisy Johnson from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Recalling Daisy’s early history with S.H.I.E.L.D. when she was still calling herself Skye, Bennet told ComicBook.com that Daisy would pick Captain America over Iron Man. “Not just because it’s Chris Evans,” said Bennet, “I think it would be Cap because, I mean, that just makes the most sense. Iron Man is not really for her, you know? I think Daisy’s behavior up to this point, and where she’s been means she would go with Cap.”

Captain America: The Winter Soldier had a transformative effect on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and it’s likely that Civil War will also shake up the MCU status quo, even if none of the characters from the TV series make into the movie.

Nerdist’s own Sydney Bucksbaum also caught up with Bennet for The Hollywood Reporter, where she expanded upon the new status quo for the woman formerly known as Skye.

“Now that I’m no longer Skye, I’m really excited to explore her new character,” explained Bennet. “It’s not a whole new character but she’ll be changed going forward, and that was her choice. Mack [Henry Simmons] is my new partner and my relationship with Coulson is much more like a co-worker on a team than a father-daughter relationship. And she’s definitely more of a badass and more mature than we’ve ever seen her.”

“Those [terrigen contaminated] fish oil pills are going to be the catalyst that kicks off Daisy’s new mission and you’ll see that early on,” concluded Bennet. “Her first priority is to get the Secret Warriors together and it’s going to be chaos in the beginning when the audience is dropped into the beginning of season three.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season three premieres tonight on ABC.
