Check Out These Striking New Character Posters From Disney’s INTO THE WOODS

Disney’s Into the Woods is a hotly-anticipated fantasy epic that we simply can’t wait to see, so whatever scraps fans are thrown in the meantime are hardly enough to tide them over. This new set of character portraits will do the trick for now, however. The animated posters depict the cast all gussied up in intricate and gorgeous costumes created by Oscar-winning designer Colleen Atwood (Chicago, Alice in Wonderland) and show off each of the main characters’ respective roles and attitudes.

Rob Marshall’s musical fantasy is posed for a theatrical release on December 25, 2014, and moviegoers on Christmas Day will be greeted with a tale following an alternate world of Grimm fairy tales including characters from Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood. Based on the original Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, the narrative follows a couple who are unable to have children as they endeavor to break the curse placed upon them by a vicious old witch (Meryl Streep).

The film will no doubt be an interesting twist on classic formulas, but for now we’ve got these posters to scrutinize. What do you think of the costumes and the actors chosen to wear them? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
