Check Out a Huge Gallery of New SUICIDE SQUAD Images

Happy Friday, everyone! Several noteworthy films are hitting theaters this weekend, including The Secret Life of Pets, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Captain Fantastic. But just in case none of them interest you, there are lots more covered in today’s Movie Morsels. We’ve got the biggest assortment of new Suicide Squad images yet, an update on Batman: The Killing Joke‘s theatrical release, the latest photos from the Assassin’s Creed adaptation, and much more!

Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad 1

It’s a great time to be a fan of supervillainy. The latest issue of good ol’ Entertainment Weekly has four covers, all of which are devoted to Suicide Squad. The magazine also has a bunch of new photos from the David Ayer-directed film. And you can check out all of these images — featuring Will Smith’s Deadshot, Jard Leto’s Joker, and of course Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn — in the gallery at the bottom of this page. Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, and Cara Delevingne costar in the antihero comic adaptation, arriving on August 5.

Batman: The Killing Joke

Batgirl The Killing Joke 2

Hey, speaking of the Joker… The most infamous story to star the Clown Prince of Crime remains Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s The Killing Joke, the animated film adaptation of which is getting a one-night-only theatrical release on July 25th, before being released digitally on July 26 and on DVD and Blu-ray on August 2nd. Now we hear that heretofore limited theatrical release is widening considerably—to about three hundred screens. You can view the full list of theaters at which The Killing Joke will be playing on the Fathom Events website.

Assassin’s Creed

Despite the lukewarm reception given to Warcraft, there’s no shortage of video game adaptations on the horizon, and there’s none more eagerly awaited by fans than Assassin’s Creed, starring the always watchable Michael Fassbender. Fox has released two new images from the film via Twitter, and they show “Fassy” (as we here at Movie Morsels like to call him) in all his cross-time glory. Enjoy!

Tomb Raider

Alicia Vikander

And while we’re talking about video game adaptations… The Tomb Raider reboot, starring Alicia Vikander (pictured above in Son of a Gun, she has, coincidentally, been dating Michael Fassbender), now has a firm release date… Lara Croft returns to the big screen on March 16, 2018. Norway’s Roar Uthaug directs the action epic.

Sing

Finally today, a little something to get your weekend started with a song. It’s the latest trailer for Sing, with Matthew McConaughey as theater manager Buster Moon, a Koala who stages a singing competition to end all singing competitions. If watching CG-animated critters croon is your thing, then start getting excited—the film is said to contain more than 85 (!) hit songs. Sing arrives on December 21.
