Charity Offers Hospitalized Children the Chance to be Heroes

In 2012, photographer Jamie Trueblood made a splash online with a set of faux movie posters featuring his two kids as superheroes. Mr. Trueblood has recently teamed up with Jesse Wilson, a creative director from Paramount who made a similar poster for Batkid based on the Dark Knight Rises film, to create a charity they call “For The Win.” The new charity creates realistic film posters for hospitalized children dressed as their favorite comic book or film characters.

Take a look at their mission statement from the For The Win website:

The For The Win Project gives children in special circumstances the chance to be their favorite heroes in their very own movie poster. We create a new sense of hope, motivation, and give a self-esteem boost for each child. Transforming them into HEROES will be influential in raising both awareness and funds for whatever they may be up against. Our outreach, influence, and change can only get bigger as we plan to discover and explore new, creative ways to immerse our heroes in their own worlds with MOVIE trailers, comic books, album covers and so much more.

The posters are only the tip of the iceberg, really. For The Win has also been able to utilize the Hollywood connections of both Wilson and Trueblood to help create video packages for the kids, which include several celebrities saying hello and giving their best wishes. At a special unveiling party for her poster, Noah got to spend a day with Darth Vader, party with stormtroopers, hug an Ewok, and have a screening of her video reel before the poster was revealed.
