Celebrate Harry Potter’s Birthday with Simon Pegg as Drunk Ron Weasley

Attention Muggles! Today is the 35th birthday of Harry Potter, as determined in the seven Harry Potter novels by author J.K. Rowling. And we’re sure it’s just a magical coincidence that they share the same birthday fifteen years apart!

Regardless, today is a special occasion among Muggles and Wizards alike as we celebrate the life of “The Boy who Lived.” The young man who defeated “he-who-must-not-be-named” at the Battle of Hogwarts. And who better to wish Harry Potter a happy birthday than his old school chum, Ron Weasley?

Alas, poor Ron. Always playing second fiddle to Harry. Oh sure, Ron got to marry Hermione in the end. But even Rowling has said that was probably a mistake and that the couple either wouldn’t last or they would need therapy. You know…when you’re a fictional character, your creator is basically your God. So what are you gonna do when even God is against you?! Let’s just say that Butterbeer isn’t a strong enough drink to help you deal with that!

26-year old Rupert Grint might be a little too young to play 35-year old Drunk Ron Weasley. Fortunately, Simon Pegg has taken on the role for this year’s Harry Potter commemoration on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And if you were hoping for good news on the marriage front, Drunk Ron said that Hermione has left him, again.

This wasn’t Pegg’s first appearance as Drunk Ron Weasley. So enjoy this older clip from 2013 in which Drunk Ron serenades his old friend on his birthday:

Harry Potter fans, send the birthday boy your best wishes in the comment section below! Oh… and somebody do something nice for Ron too!
