Injustice anywhere is a threat to cartoons everywhereâ¦I think thatâs how it goes, right?
Thankfully animated denizens of the world can rest easy in the knowledge that Cartoon Network will be debuting a new Justice League cartoon next year. Rumored to be titled Justice League Action, the network confirmed to The Worldâs Finest that the new series will indeed happen, though it is unlikely to debut before ânext fall.â
Last month, we brought you coverage of an apparent âleakâ from the Warner Brothers Burbank office, where a slate of posters for their current and future animated series included one with the very revealing letters âJLA.” Now that we know the poster was no accident, we can say, “Good job internet!”
Considering the success of past DC Comic‘s superhero cartoons, this news will certainly be welcomed by superhero fans everywhere. The Cartoon Network first aired an animated version of the superhero supergroup , from 2001 to 2004, titled Justice League. The main characters on that iteration consisted of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and the Flash. They followed that up with another animated series, Justice League Unlimited, which ran from 2004 to 2006.
With so few details about the project at this time, we can feel free to speculate about how the new series might be different from its predecessor. One thing that we do know is that between this news and the ever-expanding cinematic universe of the Justice League, DCâs challenge to Marvel for hearts, minds, and dollars is only growing larger.
