Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal Will RAMPAGE with Dwayne Johnson

USA’s sci-fi series, Colony is emerging as one of the early hits of 2016. In fact, it’s going so well that Colony executive producers, Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal are about to go on a Rampage. As in, Cuse and Condal have reportedly been signed to rewrite the feature film adaptation of the classic arcade game Rampage.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is already lined up to star in Rampage, with his San Andreas director Brad Peyton also onboard to helm the film; Ryan Engle wrote the previous draft.

When Rampage was released in 1986, it simply followed three monsters on a nationwide tour as they smashed and destroyed everything they could get their hands on. So even with a draft in hand, Cuse and Condal will have to create, essentially, something out of nothing. It’s not entirely clear whom Johnson will portray in the Rampage movie: Will his character try to stop the monsters? Or will he be one of the monstrous trio from the original game? If it’s the latter, that would narrow his choices down to two characters George—who transforms into a giant ape that resembles King Kong—or Ralph, a giant werewolf. Somehow, we doubt that Johnson will play Lizzie, the woman who turns into a giant lizard.

Rampage marks the second collaboration between Cuse, Johnson, and Peyton. (Cuse wrote the script for San Andreas, released last year.) Cuse is primarily known for his TV work including Lost, Bates Motel, The Strain, and The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., but he has also worked on Lethal Weapon, Lethal Weapon 2, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
