First Look at CAPTAIN MARVEL Toy Confirms our Jude Law Theory

We’re always on the lookout for the best insiders who can provide clues and insight into upcoming movies, but there’s one source that constantly comes through for us with genuine information before anyone else – toys. For years movie merchandise playthings have been one of the most reliable and early indicators of what’s to come in our favorite film franchises, and it has happened again. A new toy for the next installment in the MCU, Captain Marvel, the hero Nick Fury reached out to in his final, dusty moment, has revealed who one of its biggest actors will be playing. We’ve always known Brie Larson is playing Carol Danvers, but ever since he signed on to the movie, fans have been debating who Jude Law will play. Now we have the answer, and we got this one exactly right.

Today’s potentially spoiler-filled Nerdist News with host Jessica Chobot unboxes some new Funko POP! figures that hit the world wide web. Since last year, many have put their proverbial money on Jude Law playing the Kree hero Mar-Vell. Back in September we proposed a very different theory that pointed to a different, more dastardly role, and now we have been vindicated. But we’re not here to (only) brag, we’re here to explain why there has been secrecy surrounding his character, what it means for Carol Danvers origin story as Captain Marvel, and what his presence will mean for her going forward.

Are we superheroes for not boasting more that we totally nailed this theory? Yeah, maybe. At minimum we think we handled it marvelously.

What do you think of this news? Are you excited to see Jude Law playing that character? Tell us why in the comments below.
