This Fan Theory About CAPTAIN MARVEL’s Cat and Nick Fury Is Too Perfect

Carol Danvers might be the greatest, most powerful superhero the MCU has ever seen, the universe’s best hope to undo Thanos’s snap at the end of Infinity War, and the character who will lead the franchise in its next generation. However, until we saw the newest trailer for Captain Marvel we had no idea the thing we’d be most excited to see in her first movie is Nick Fury petting a cat. Without knowing it, the typically curmudgeonly Nick Fury falling head-over-heels for her cuddly kitty was really all we need in life. That is unless a possibly crazy, definitely wonderful new fan theory proves true and that seemingly lovely relationship turns sour in what will prove to be a monumental moment in Nick Fury’s past.

Today’s Nerdist News with guest host Amy Vorpahl looks at the great new idea flying through MCU-fandom after the latest Captain Marvel trailer. In the comics Carol Danvers’ pet cat isn’t really a cat. We know the movie will feature plenty of other changes to her story, including how Chewie the cat is now named Goose in a terrific Top Gun homage. Is that the only difference fans will discover about her kitten? Could Goose be something far more sinister than a friendly feline? If so, is that how Nick Fury will get his iconic eye patch?

Some fan theories are crazy-crazy, but this one is the good kind of crazy. We’ve been waiting to learn how Fury lost his eye ever since he showed up at the end of the first Iron Man, and this would be an amazing way to scratch that itch.

What do you think? Is Carol Danver’s cat Goose just a cat or a Skrull? Will it scratch out Nick Fury’s eye? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
