What the Falcon/Winter Soldier Rumor Reveals about Cap’s Fate in AVENGERS 4

We don’t know a whole lot about Avengers 4, and yet we have lots of information about other MCU projects coming out after Earth’s mightiest heroes’ second showdown with the Mad Titan. There are films and shows starring characters who are currently dead or dust, including Marvel-led limited series with Loki and Scarlet Witch set to air on Disney’s streaming service. Now a surprise–and telling–third series has been reported.

It will pair Steve Rogers’ two closest friends, Falcon and the Winter Soldier. If his best buds, who have butted heads in the past, are teaming up, what does that tell us about the fate of Chris Evans’ beloved hero in his final film in the franchise? On today’s Nerdist News, host Jessica Chobot explores what the unlikely duo of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes points to when it comes to Captain America‘s fortunes in Avengers 4.

Unlike Loki and Scarlet Witch, who have freedom to get prequel stories without causing major problems for the big screen films continuity, it’s hard to imagine Bucky and Sam working together in a world where Steve Rogers is still around. Does that guarantee Cap will bite the big one while fighting to bring back his Snapped friends? Or will they go looking to rescue him after he goes missing? Either way, could this be how one–or even both–of them end up as the new Captain America themselves?

We don’t know, but we can’t wait to find out. Well, not the part where we might have to watch Captain America die. No one is looking forward to that.

What do you think this pair’s mini series means for Cap’s fate in Avengers 4? Team up with our comments section below to let us know.
