Capcom Announces DmC DEVIL MAY CRY: Definitive Edition for PS4, Xbox One

The era of next-gen remasters continues, as Capcom has announced DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Ninja Theory’s 2013 take on the series will be upscaled for next-gen consoles and released March 17, 2015 for $39.99, with all of the DLC from the PS3/360 versions included. Devil May Cry 4 was also announced to be receiving some re-release love as well, but separate from DmC, and sometime in the summer of 2015.

The most recent Devil May Cry game (often titled just DmC) was a reboot of the original Devil May Cry franchise, and saw the series’ protagonist, Dante, receiving a complete visual makeover. The game faced quite a bit of scrutiny for this reason, but was able to vindicate itself upon release thanks to its stellar gameplay. Here’s a look at the official announcement trailer down below:

Perhaps the most amusing tidbit I discovered in this trailer was the fact that most of the “retuned” and “rebalanced” combat sequences shown featured the white-haired Dante skin. DmC made it a point to make fun of the old school Dante at the beginning of the game’s campaign, so it’s rather ironic that they’d include it in the remaster’s first promotional trailer. No one wants to rehash all of that fan backlash! Regardless, if you missed out on this game back in 2013, this is definitely a great opportunity to check out one of the better Devil May Cry efforts to see the light of day.

Looking forward to reliving the shenanigans of DmC with luscious next-gen visuals? Are you lamenting the loss of backward compatibility even more thanks to the exhausting influx of next-gen remasters? Devil trigger your thoughts into the comments below.
