The magical world of J.K. Rowling was back in the limelight this weekend, with the newest trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them airing during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night. That means, as every single Harry Potter fanatic knows, it was time for one of the internet’s most common events: Q&A with the author on Twitter. One of the questions this time around: “Who is your favorite character in the Harry Potter books?” (The asker, Twitter user mahanadam, is wise enough to stipulate, “Besides Harry.”) I’m going to guess that her answer will not exactly surprise you.
Dumbledore. https://t.co/pY9HKUHiaB

If you pay attention to how the author speaks about the beloved Headmaster, many of you probably would have predicted this answer anyway But she has also spoken with great fondness for other characters too, so it is still interesting to get a definitive response.
Albus Dumbledore was mentioned in the new trailer for Fantastic Beasts as being very fond of the movie’s protagonist, Newt Scamander. Rowling also answered a couple of questions about the younger Professor Dumbledore and his vouching for Scamander.
Albus Dumbledore is fond of Newt Scamander for the same reasons that I am fond of Newt Scamander. You're welcome. https://t.co/bNdwX6Tf40

Dumbledore was a young teacher at the time Newt was expelled. He wasn't able to revoke expulsions. https://t.co/UskHwSQvtJ

I never realized just how old Dumbledore was, but considering the events of the upcoming prequel take place in the 1920s, in which former Dumbledore student Newt Scamander is past his schooling age, that makes Albus quite the senior during the events of the Harry Potter novels.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be a trilogy, so we can probably start fantasy casting the young Dumbledore now. Who would you like to see in the role of Rowling’s (non-Harry category) favorite character? Tell us in the comments below.
