As if the arrival of Mason Verger to Bryan Fuller’s world of Hannibal weren’t enough to keep you in this Friday night, now he’s thrown a freaky, psychotic threeway into the mix, too. (Spoilers ahoy!) The visionary creator of NBC’s most beautifully horrific psychological thriller teased the sequence in an interview with Digital Spy and, apparently? Dr. Lecter’s bromance with Will Graham is about to encroach on some romance lines thanks to a… threeway with Alana Bloom. Man, that Lecter’s really got a hold on our boy Will — or does he?
“I think that’s where we go with the romance, or the bromance, between Hannibal and Will, and the woman that is between them. … We do get into an episode later on in the season, that ultimately is Will and Hannibal in bed together with Alana Bloom,” Fuller explained. “So the barriers of that friendship get thinner and thinner.”
The scene — airing in this Friday’s episode, titled “Naka-Choko” — is in no way gratuitous, though, with Fuller taking inspiration from David Cronenberg in order to ensure the scene’s psychological subtext. “Looking at the sexuality in the show, I’m always reminded of [Cronenberg’s] Dead Ringers, where you have two Jeremy Irons characters flanking Geneviève Bujold in a very sexy, yet psychologically disturbing way.”
By the way, we’re patting ourselves on the back for not making some corny cannibal-sex pun that borders on (OK, or maybe way oversteps the line) inappropriate. After all, to indulge in such silliness would definitely be considered rude — and we do not want to be on Hannibal’s bad side.

This is so amazingly disgusting if Bryan Fuller was here right now I’d slap him I to another century. How in the world can he think this is okay? Who in their right mind believes Hannibal effing LECTER would do ANYTHING like this. According to season one this show was destined to be epic. Now I crap out something more epic each morning. I hate what he’s turned Hannibal Lecter into and the fact people still LIKE this show is the worst of all. It’s only proves that media has dumbed down a lot of people over the years and I will have no part of this sickness.
