BROAD CITY Premieres on Comedy Central Tonight

Tonight at 10:30e/9:30c, Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson will premiere their show Broad City on Comedy Central, which will accompany Workaholics as the only live action scripted serialized series/sitcoms at the cable network. While shows like South Park, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, @midnight, and Key and Peele have been key to Comedy Central’s success, with the proliferation of scripted comedy on cable television at FXX, IFC, TBS, and more, it was inevitable that Comedy Central would get back into producing its own sitcoms.

Even more interesting is the fact that Comedy Central has only had four female toplined shows throughout its existence as a network. Strangers With Candy, Wanda Does It, The Sarah Silverman Program, and now, Broad City have been the only series on Comedy Central with women as the leads. Strangers With Candy and The Sarah Silverman Program managed to make it to three seasons each and maintain a cult following today. So, Broad City premiering tonight, is a pretty big deal.

I have seen a full episode (which you can watch at ComedyCentral.com) and found it to be pretty damn funny and a refreshing portrait of the absurd yet real whirlwind of living in New York City. Tune in at 10:30p tonight to watch the premiere of Broad City and see if you agree.

  1. Literally I really like this series because the show is centered around the lives of low income, struggling women and their friendships.

  2. Dan says:

sorry Key and Peele are not part of the success of comedy central, shows like them, Kroll Show, Amy Schumer and this crap fest are destroying Comedy Central, after all we lost Futurama to this shit

  3. james says:

man this sucked. spent more time trying to show us how edgy and cool the two main characters were than actual comedy. fuck this i hope it gets canceled

  4. Spencer says:

I loved it! I hope people actually watch this
