You know the space race is heating up when space-oriented CEOs start insinuating grand theft auto of the only car careening across the cosmos.
Dennis Muilenburg, CEO of Boeing, was recently asked at a Politico event what he thought about cars in space. “We might just pick up the one out there and bring it back,” Muilenburg quipped. The CEO was clearly referring to Elon Musk’s cherry red Tesla Roadster, currently taking the scenic route around Mars. (You can track the Roadster and Starman here.) Muilenburg went on to say that the first humans to walk on Mars will have gotten there under the thrust of a Boeingâand not SpaceXârocket. Clearly there’s a rivalry here, but competition is a breeding ground for innovation. CEOs compare rocket sizes, we step foot on the Red Planet; it’s a win-win.
But that’s not all! Also on the show today, Dan and I break down how much you’ll have to pay to stay at the first space hotel, Tesla’s pathway through production hell, and Elon claims he can pilot a helicopter better than Trinity after an info download.
