Bloodiest’s Self-Titled Record Is Post-Metal Perfection (Premiere)

It might be insanely early in 2016, but we feel comfortable saying that Bloodiest are releasing what is sure to be one of the best metal albums of the year. Heavy, dreamy, and polemic, Bloodiest have delivered art that feels all-consuming.

Bloodiest from Relapse Records

We are insanely excited to premiere a stream of the full album, which you can listen to below, courtesy of Relapse Records. The bands new self-titled full length will hit shelves on January 15. From the crushing and heavy opening track “Mesmerize” to the droning and angry “Broken Teeth,” Bloodiest is a thing of hideous beauty. There are elements of doom, grunge, post-metal, and good ol’ fashion rock peppered all throughout. It’s filled with chaotic anger and melody.

When it comes to the album’s influences, guitarist Tony Lazzara tells us, “Inspiration always comes from unlikely bed partners. Rich Homie Quan, Charles Ives, Craft, boosting 40 Hz on an EQ…to name a few things. All have fingerprints on this record. Further formalizing our misanthropic point of view, while attempting a slightly different way to raise a middle finger.”

Recorded and produced by Sanford Parker and Tony Lazzara, Bloodiest is a true wall of sound. The album feels like the band is playing two feet away from your face: every instrument is pushed forward in the mix, thundering into your ears with a natural, thick tone. There’s a visceral quality to the entire record, even when it slips into smoother melodies. It’s always raw, always pounding into your brain.

Listen to our exclusive stream of the full album below. Bloodiest is one hell of a record and one that we are likely to have in constant rotation for the rest of the year.
