This is exactly what you need for your John-117 cosplay to go along with the motorized Spartan-sized Needler.
If you hadn’t heard already, a shiny crystal-encrusted Master Chief helmet was being auctioned off on eBay, and it recently sold for an incredibly large sum of money. The 11-pound helmet went for a whopping $34,000, with the proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Crafted by cosplayer Hsu Chia-Hao and the Australian designer Jenny Manik Mercian, this item was originally revealed on the Xbox Asia YouTube channel. You can watch how the project came together in the video above.
I’m not sure how many cosplayers out there would have an outfit prepared for so much bling, but wearing this thing to a convention will surely draw everyone’s attention — or you’ll probably just blind everyone. So, someone out there will now be able to cosplay as the shiniest Chief to date. The actual gaudy collectible is encrusted with Swarovski crystals, so it’s really not worth the amount spent on it; Though, it’s going to a good cause, so that’s obviously not the point.
With Halo 5: Guardians having just launched in the last couple of weeks exclusively on the Xbox One, I certainly hope whoever purchased this finely crafted helmet will wear it out a couple of times. Nothing quite says “I love Halo” like an 11-pound, one-of-a-kind Chief helmet. I’d love to be able to wear this in Halo 5, but it’s probably not best for a Spartan to wear something so conspicuous when going out on an important mission. Plus, it would be a giant target for the Promethean soldiers. Darn it.
Would you wear the bling out to a convention? How much would you pay for something this unique? Let us know in the comments below.
