Though we’re now only two years away from the post-apocalyptic 2019 that Ridley Scott created in the epic film Blade Runner, we approach the movieâs 35th anniversary still faced with the same eternal question: Human or replicant? While you brave the debate in preparation for Blade Runner 2049, settle in for a dish of Blade Runner-inspired noodles.
This noodle bowl is reminiscent of the offerings of the roadside joint where we’re first introduced to Rick Deckard, the White Dragon Noodle Bar. However, inside youâll find one very specific additional ingredient: an edible origami unicorn. Do you dream of ramen? We know you do.
Blade Runner Ramen
Youâll need:
Origami unicorn cookie cutter
Origami Unicorn Wonton Chips ingredients:
4 Egg roll wrappers
2 Tablespoons melted butter
Ramen ingredients:
Ramen noodles
2 cups dashi, hot
1 Tablespoon soy sauce
Soft boiled egg
Dry seaweed
Sliced kamaboko (fish cake)
Tofu, diced
Spinach, cooked
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Prep a baking sheet with parchment or a silpat.
Use the cookie cutter to cut out unicorn shapes from the egg roll wrappers. Place on the prepped baking sheets and use a clean pastry brush to brush on the melted butter. Bake for 5-7 minutes until browned. Let cool on a wire rack.
In a pot, bring 2 quarts of water to boil. Add the ramen noodles and cook for 1-½ minutes. Drain and place into a serving bowl.
In a small bowl mix together the dashi and the soy sauce. Pour over the noodles.
Top the noodle bowl with eggs, seaweed, kamaboko, tofu, and spinach. Add the origami unicorn wonton chip to serve.
