The BLACK WIDOW Movie We All Want Has A Fan-Crafted Title Sequence

Just because Disney and Marvel won’t give us the Black Widow movie the world is clamoring for doesn’t mean the very talented fans of the comic books and Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t put their skills to good use and give us all incredible things to watch. Such as Christopher Haley, who created this absolutely gorgeous Black Widow film opening sequence in After Effects as a final class project.

Haley describes his fictitious film’s plot line in the YouTube notes:

“Cut off one head, two more shall take it’s place. . . For this speculative title sequence of a Black Widow film I decided Black Widow’s villain would be. . . Black Widow. Yelena Belova, to be specific. Belova believes herself to be the superior Black Widow, and in some ways she is right. Swift and ruthless, Belova is the most talented assassin to graduate from the Red Room–and now she is Hydra’s most deadly weapon. At Belova’s side is a super-soldier of her own, Alexi Shostakov–the Red Guardian, who also happens to be Natasha’s former lover. When the new heads of Hydra make a play for the power of the infinity stones it is up to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s top agent to stop them.”

He also includes his casting choices with Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, and Ming-Na Wen reprising their roles as Natasha Romanoff, Phil Coulson, and Melinda May, adding Rosamund Pike as the other Black Widow (perhaps perfect casting given her chilling portrayal of Amy Dunne in Gone Girl) and Samuli Edelmann as the Red Guardian, another super soldier.

Haley clearly took inspiration from famed James Bond designer Maurice Binder and legendary designer Saul Bass when creating this striking opening sequence. Portishead‘s “Sour Times” as the musical overlay makes this fan think of dark smokey salons and 007’s super spy ways with the ladies. I would bet money you’ll be watching this over and over again.

I’m hoping Haley got an A+ for this gorgeous piece of work and for the very cool animated Ms. Marvel sequence he also worked on for a class.

Please can I have some more of these lady comic heroes on my screens? I will buy my ticket to the movies tomorrow!
