Bill Nye Tells Us How Science and Sex Will Save The World

In the 1990s, mechanical engineer Bill Nye took to television to share the wonders of science with the kids’ show Bill Nye The Science Guy. Then as debate over climate change made science and facts a political football, Nye stepped into the spotlight once more, taking to talk shows to discuss the proven dangers of global warming. Now, he’s taking the fight to Netflix with a groundbreaking talk show of his own, Bill Nye Saves The World.

At a live-streamed panel in February, Nye explained his new series would boast a mix of panel discussions, experiments, and investigative reports from a team that includes fashion model Karlie Kloss, “Space Gal” Emily Calandrelli, Youtube star Derek Muller, and comedians Joanna Hausmann and Nazeem Hussain. Then, Bill Nye Saves The World‘s first trailer revealed special guests like celebrity chef Alton Brown, San Francisco Giants’ Hunter Pence, record producer Steve Aoki, Scrubs Zach Braff and Donald Faison, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s Rachel Bloom, Project Runway‘s Tim Gunn, Community‘s Joel McHale, and geek icon Wil Wheaton.

“Celebrities really want to get on the show,” Nye declared in the panel. “People want to do something. They are making a statement or making a difference or participating in science. You know, nowadays there’s a phrase everybody uses: ‘fact based.’ We’re trying to celebrate that. So we have a scientific point of view on a lot of I think very interesting topics and it’s limitless.”

Some of the topics Bill Nye Saves The World‘s 13 episodes will delve into are technology, global warming, GMOs, alternative medicine, and sex.
