Beyond the Marquee Interviews the Composer for AGENT CARTER and GALAVANT

Nerdist Alliance member Beyond the Marquee recently released a brand new episode, and it’s focuses on the music of two shows that have made my January awesome: Marvel’s Agent Carter and Galavant (just reading that put the theme song in your head, didn’t it?). In this episode, Beyond the Marquee reporter Chad Frye sits down with composer Christopher Lennertz to discuss working on the two series. One’s a period drama set in the ’40s and the other’s a medieval musical comedy. Yeah, they couldn’t be more different.

Discussing Lennertz’s long resume would be too much for a single episode but before we watch Beyond the Marquee’s intriguing interview, here’s a sampling of other series Lennertz has worked on: Supernatural, Revolution, and Ghostfacers. He also composed the Peggy Carter short, Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter. Whew. That obviously prepped him for working on the show on a regular basis. Watch the interview to learn about his process:

I was surprised and excited to learn he worked on Galavant. Composer Alan Menken wrote the songs and music for the series, and once you hear the name “Alan Menken,” it’s easy to tune out. Lennertz played a key role too and co-produced the songs with Menken, including recording, mixing, and arranging them. He also worked directly with Menken on the underscore – you know, all those musical moments when songs aren’t playing. And on that note, I’m going to go listen to the Galavant theme song again.

Have you watched any of the series Lennertz has worked on? Head to the comments and let us know which of his pieces you like best.
