This year’s Star Trek/Green Lantern crossover series from the folks at IDW Entertainment and DC Comics is taking last year’s epic meeting between the fabled space cops and Starfleet’s finest, and making it all look like basic training on the planet Oa (or is that basic training at Starfleet Academy?)
And things are about to get even crazier, as IDW has revealed to us exclusively that in Star Trek/Green Lantern #2, which hits comic shops on Wednesday, January 25 (today!), the version of Khan Noonien Singh as played by Benedict Cumberbatch will be making his first return to Trek lore since being put on ice at the end of Star Trek Into Darkness.Â
Series writer Mike Johnson confirmed that the Star Trek franchise’s #1 villain of all time will be making his comeback for the very first time since Into Darkness came out in theaters back in 2013, and had this to say about the genetically engineered tyrant’s return to make life hell for those living in the Alpha Quadrant:
“This series is all about playing with the best toys in both universes. It’s time to un-thaw the most dangerous popsicle in the galaxy and give him a power ring. What’s the worst that could happen? Let’s find out!â
You can see the cover for issue #2 below, featuring the Green Lantern Corps’ most notorious nemesis Sinestro, as well as the official description of the issue from publisher IDW.
Star Trek/Green Lantern Vol 2 #2 (of 6)
Mike Johnson (w) ⢠Angel Hernandez (a & c)
STRANGER WORLDS PART TWO! With their power rings running low and no power batteries left to recharge them, the surviving heroes of the Lantern Corps join with Starfleet in the ultimate battle with Sinestro and the resurgent Klingons… until the arrival of an unexpected visitor from the Lanterns’ past changes the game entirely!
And below is the page from issue #2 which reveals the long awaited return of Khan, and it appears that the genetically engineered despot has found a power ring of his own — the Red Lantern ring of rage. As Khan’s wrath is fairly legendary, one might say, you can bet this isn’t good news for Starfleet or the Green Lantern Corps.
What do you think of the long awaited return of Khan to Star Trek lore? Let us know your thoughts down below in the comments!
