Ben Sollee Nailed This In One Take

This is a new song from Ben Sollee, a jazz musician from Lexington, Kentucky (Chris Hardwick was born a scant 75.6 miles from there, in Louisville), entitled “Close to You.”

The opening lyrics are pretty nice: “Sometimes, I wear feathers to feel close to the sky.”  Very Icarus-ian. Is that even a word? Whatever. “I’ve been laying next to you… just to see if it feels right” pretty much captures the mid-20-something ethos, doesn’t it?

Let this take you into the weekend — and to completely shatter your mid-20-something ethos and sense of weekly accomplishment, realize this: this video was shot in one take.

Well done. But that dude didn’t have to “nail” much — he got to just ride his stationary bike and lip-sync while everyone else did all the work!

I feel like either whoever came up with the concept of this video: was inspired by the Kindle commercials, directed the Kindle commercials, or some combination in between. either way kudos to to whoever came up with it.. really cool video…
