Ben Affleck on Batman’s JUSTICE LEAGUE Tactical Batsuit

I’m gonna be perfectly honest with you folks. It isn’t easy finding movie news as entertaining as the political news stories making headlines throughout this election season. But in today’s Movie Morsels, I’m still gonna give it the ol’ college try! So read on for the latest on Batman’s apparel in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the Jumanji reboot, the Alita: Battle Angel adaptation, and more…

Justice League

With its filming now complete in London, post-production officially begins on the Justice League movie… thus beginning a hella lotta rumors, leaks, gossip…and one or two genuine, bona fide facts! In the midst of doing press on his latest film, The Accountant (which co-stars Justice League‘s J.K. Simmons, a.k.a. Commissioner Gordon), Ben Affleck had a few words to say to Extra about the Bat wardrobe he wears when the word’s greatest superheroes embark on their maiden big-screen mission…

“There’s two suits in Justice League,” says Affleck. “One we’ve seen before, and then one that he augments because of the nature of the mission, which I can’t give away… But it was a chance for them to play with the suit and add elements to it, and kind of tech it out.”

Here’s the video interview with Affleck’s techie remarks…

The Escape

After far too many years away from the steering wheel, Clive Owen is back to his old badass self as BMW Films’ oh-so-mysterious Driver in Nicholas Winding Refn’s short film The Escape. Owen’s got a pretty impressive supporting cast in this mini actioner (which debuts online on October 23rd), including Dakota Fanning (sister of his Neon Demon star Elle Fanning) and Jon Bernthal. All three stars are featured in the just-released trailer for the short. Oh just admit it: you’d watch Jon Bernthal do nothing but eat corn on teh cob. I know I would!

Patriots Day

Patriots Day

Has any director in recent memory had the kind of comeback that Peter Berg is having since the laughable Battleship? This weekend’s Deepwater Horizon is a harrowing screen thriller (based on an infamous real-life disaster) and his next film (also pulled from the headlines) has attracted two of the most acclaimed film composers of our time. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are scoring Patriots Day, Berg’s Mark Wahlberg-starring retelling of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Reznor and Ross’ presence instantly catapults this film to prestige level, so don’t be at all surprised to see it garnering Oscar buzz at some point.

Jumanji

Jumanji looks like the most fun shoot since… Well, probably since the last film to star Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black. Don’t believe me? Check out the latest photos and videos from the jungle location set. They serve as evidence that these jokesters are having the time of their lives. Hopefully that means we will too when the film opens next year…

Being an actress is hard…

Alita: Battle Angel

Keean Johnson

Last but by no means least… Alita: Battle Angel just nabbed herself a boyfriend. (Awww…) Yes, the cyborg star of the Robert Rodriguez-directed, James Cameron-produced manga adaptation has found her love interest in the form of Nashville star Keean Johnson (pictured above). Joining Rosa Salazar (as Alita), Christoph Waltz, Jackie Earl Haley, and Ed Skrein, Johnson’s character Hugo is “a young man who teaches Alita how to play a gladiator-style game called Motorball but who also has a secret side job stealing robot parts.”
