You know all those posts with perfectly aligned tiles, or a perfectly peeled banana? The ones labeled “The Most Satisfying Thing You’ll See All Day.” Well, this video right up there. YouTube channel HTD has created a three-tiered tower of 7,000 matches and lit the top on fire. What follows is a mesmerizing, 45-minute chain reaction of carefully-controlled fire slowly melting an odd layer cake down to nothing. It’s like having the Yule Log video playing on Christmas Day. It’s so soothing, watching ordered destruction.
HTD also has a compilation of their best match-burning videos, which we’ve included below. As burning thousands of expertly placed matches is seemingly all they do on this YouTube channel, you can see why there is no further information on them. The demonstrations were clearly done inside a building, and no alarms ever go off. The fire department might want to look into why that is, especially since most of us have our smoke alarms go off when we’ve barely begun cooking that piece of chicken for dinner. Seriously, it’s barely started! There’s no smoke! How do you get the battery out of this thing? How?
Please don’t try this at home, though. It sort of goes without saying, but we’re saying it anyway. We know destruction videos are all the rage these days, but burning your house down would really suck. Don’t even do it outside. People report these things and we don’t want you to go to jail for trying to be internet famous. For those of you who ignore good, solid advice, we’re just going to leave this article about a really cool fire extinguisher here. The rest of you just watch, relax and tweet me/us your zen moments @JennaBusch/@Nerdist, or send videos of yourself saying, “Fire! Fire!” a la Beavis and Butthead.
