Babymetal Is Touring Japan with Guns N’ Roses

2016 is near its end, but let’s not forget how huge of a year it’s been for Japanese metal/J-pop group Babymetal: They released their (surprisingly good) sophomore album METAL RESISTANCE in April, performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, became playable characters in Super Mario Maker, got their own web series, and covered two Judas Priest songs with the band’s own Rob Halford.

They’ve undoubtedly carved out a spot for themselves in the metal and broader music communities, and they’ve even earned the favor of one of the most legendary rock bands of all time, as it was just announced that Babymetal is going on tour with Guns N’ Roses (via Fuse).

GnR took to Twitter yesterday to announce that they are adding two new dates to their string of now-five Japanese shows, and for four of them, Babymetal will serve as opening act. Babymetal won’t be opening for Guns N’ Roses stateside, unfortunately, so you best dig out your passport and see what Airbnb has in Japan if this is a must-attend event for you.

There’s another opportunity to catch Babymetal opening for a legendary rock group if heading to Japan isn’t a feasible option, although you’ll still have to skip over the Atlantic to the U.K. to make it happen, as it was announced that they’ll open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers for a few shows in early and mid December. Or just wait it out, because at this rate, odds are they’ll be opening for a band you love in a venue near you before too long.
