This Baby Groot Cosplay Won Over GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Director James Gunn

We never knew how much a talking tree could make us cry until we heard one say, “We. Are. Groot.” But now, every time we re-watch Guardians of the Galaxy, there we are, wiping away the tears. And forget tears of sadness—don’t even get us started on how adorable a baby tree can be, but we aren’t even talking about Baby Groot from the end of the movie, or about the one we expect to see running around in the sequel. No, we are talking about this baby’s cosplay from this past weekend’s Boston Comic-Con. A costume so good it got the stamp of approval from director James Gunn himself.

Gunn took to Instagram to share a photo of the baby and joked that this was the “1st still” from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

Oh look at that baby!

We came across this clever and wonderful costume at Entertainment Weekly, but the Boston Globe identified him as five-month-old Charlie Lockwood of Somerville, Massachusetts. His mom Tracie said on her Imgur account, “Since he can’t stand, we supported most of the weight,” and she also shared a link to prove that this costume was fully articulated, because just like the one on the big screen, this little Groot can dance.

Is it too late to use him in the movie?

Either way, the gauntlet has been thrown down cosplay loving parents of the world! “Baby am Groot!”

Where does this rank among your favorite cosplay costumes ever? Tell us in the comments below.
