AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Easter Egg is Not What We Thought

Of all of the Easter eggs that have been found in Avengers: Infinity War, the most tantalizing one featured a tiny piece of cloth that somehow, despite being a worldwide phenomenon seen by tens of millions of people around the globe, managed to elude viewers until months after the film came out. This summer fans noticed a small article of linen hanging from one of the Mad Titan’s children, Cull Obsidian. We weren’t interested in the fashion choices of the Black Order’s largest adult son though, we were freaking out because that sash appeared to be blue, red, and gold, which just so happen to be the colors of none other than Nick Fury’s “break glass in case of existential crisis” contingency plan, Captain Marvel. However, as today’s Nerdist News with the Mar-Vell-ous Jessica Chobot explains, new insights into the film have proven that intriguing clothing isn’t exactly what we thought it was, even if it is still really cool.

Considering the Black Order were worthy, underdeveloped opponents, we can’t say we aren’t a little disappointed Cull Obsidian isn’t a lock to appear in Captain Marvel. But with it being set in the ’90s, and the Quantum Realm looking to be so important to the future of the MCU, we still could still learn someday who he took that “trophy” from. And this does make us appreciate just how much care and concern went into every aspect of Infinity War. Even a small piece of cloth on a very large space monster meant something.

So sure, a lighting issue resulted in an incredible coincidence that tricked us into seeing something that wasn’t there, but that shouldn’t blind us to this fun detail being pretty awesome.

What do you think of this sash confirmation? Do you like those kinds of details, or are you bummed out it isn’t more important? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
