In just a little over six months, the still officially untitled Avengers 4 will wrap up the cliffhanger ending of Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel understandably wants to maintain as many secrets as possible, but we’re getting the unmistakable impression that it’s no longer about the story. Instead, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have apparently been teasing fans with hints that may not actually be there at all. Now, it’s practically becoming a running gag for the Russos to leave fans hungry for more details. Today’s Nerdist News is explaining why fans just aren’t having it with the Russos’ latest attempt to troll them.
Join your host, the untrollable Jessica Chobot, as she goes over the Russos’ recent history of fan interactions. That includes a picture which invited fans to “look hard,” as if there was some Avengers 4 clue hidden within. A lot of fans took the bait and found nothing at all. That’s probably why the Russos’ newest wrap message has been largely met with scorn and even indifference.

There are still a few who are willing to play along, and we enjoyed the theory it was meant to be Adam Warlock’s cocoon. But the prevailing sentiment appears to be summed up in this message.
@Russo_Brothers This is a stage light, indicating shooting has completed and now wrapped up. You guys think we will start conversations about avengers untitled film with anything you guys post. #AvengersInfinityWarRocks

Well, if the Russos think fans will “start conversations” about anything they post, then they aren’t wrong. But perhaps the Russos’ are enjoying their jokes just a little bit too much. Even if these gags are coming off as a little trollish, all will be forgiven if Avengers 4 gives us a worthy wrap up to the story.
