Artist Reimagines FALLOUT 4 as Classic Isometric Game

Artist and game developer Chris Bischoff has recently released a few renderings of his version of an isometric Fallout 4 to show his love for the series, and obvious anticipation for the new title. Bischoff is a big fan of the isometric game design; that is a top down angle with pre-rendered environments, similar to Blizzard’s Diablo series. This is quite obvious from the game Stasis, an isometric adventure game set on a deserted space station, that Bischoff helped create with indy developer studio Brotherhood. Bischoff is also a big fan of the original two Fallout games, which were also isometric adventure titles. Now that Fallout has become a first-person sandbox title, thanks to Bethesda, some people still long for the day of the classic Fallout style. It seems Bischoff is one of those people.

That is one damn-fine looking wasteland right there. Obviously Bischoff took his time with studying the trailer Bethesda released with for the game to get a good idea of the layout around the Vault 111 Dweller’s garage, plus the lighting and shadow effects are quite beautiful. If a classic style of Fallout 4 could look this good I would be all over it myself. Outside of the Fallout connection, these images are just more proof of the skill that Bischoff has in the medium. While building online hype around Stasis, Bischoff released several images of other games he loved that he reimagined as isometric builds, including the original Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite, and Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag among others.
