DC Comics villain the Calculator (played by Tom Amandes) will be making his debut on Arrow February 3. Since the announcement of his introduction to the series, fan speculation has pegged him as Felicity’s long lost father. Thanks to executive producer Wendy Mericle, we now know that there is some sort of link between hero and villain computer geniuses.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mericle said, “Definitely tune in…We are very excited about this character. He does have a connection to Felicity. Weâre just really thrilled. Tom Amandes has been amazing in the role and is bringing a lot of kindness and a lot of malice to this character.”
While she did confirm the link, she didn’t specify what it was. We will all definitely be tuning in to find out the whole truth, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make some educated guesses. In the most recent trailer before the mid-season premiere, we caught a glimpse of “Goth Felicity,” with her black hair and piercings we last saw in her flashback episode. Since she was in college during that time, the Calculator could be somewhat of a mentor to her, if not her blood relative.
Regardless, the Calculator will have a large impact when he appears, as he is able to blackmail the returning Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) into working for him. That is not going to sit well with anyone on Team Arrow.
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
So what do you think? Does this possible link between the Calculator and Felicity make sense? Let me know on Twitter or never use the spacebar while hacking on TV into the comments below.
