ARROW Producer Teases Possible GREEN LANTERN Hal Jordan Appearance

Arrow season four is a mere month or so away from premiering, and already we are getting another hint of Green Lantern Hal Jordan making some kind of an appearance on the series, or at the very least, an acknowledgement that he exists in the DC television universe in some capacity. The first season of The Flash mentioned Hal’s hometown, Coast City, and that the aviation company Ferris Air closed due to one of their test pilots vanishing, a direct nod to Hal Jordan’s origin story. The latest hint has come from Arrow producer (and comic book writer) Marc Guggenheim, who tweeted out this piece of production art:

Now, before everyone out there gets too excited, this is probably just an Easter Egg. After all, the Coast City sign has a nod to the classic Green Lantern Corps oath as part of its slogan, not something that would actually happen if Green Lantern were already an actual character in their city (how would the Coast City tourism bureau even know the Green Lantern oath?) so it’s probably just the producers having a little bit of fun with the fans. On top of that, the producers of both Arrow and The Flash have denied that Hal Jordan is heading to either show, despite all the big hints they’ve dropped, possibly because of the character’s involvement in both the future Justice League movie as well as the Green Lantern Corps movie.

But things change in Hollywood all the time, and with the movies getting their own version of The Flash/Barry Allen with Ezra Miller, why can’t we have a TV version of Hal and a movie version? Especially if the TV version doesn’t get his own series, and just guest stars on Arrow and The Flash on occasion. I honestly don’t think it will affect the box office of any future Green Lantern movie, and the modern audience is sophisticated enough, for the most part, to understand that there are two different versions played by two different actors. You can make this happen, Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns!

Arrow season four premieres Wednesday, October 7 on the CW
