Ariana Grande Saves Tidal By Performing as Rihanna, Shakira, and Others

Tidal has been known to have some problems in the past, but the music streaming site reached critical mass last night when some of its individual artist stations began to crash. Fortunately, Chloe the intern was there to save the day with an impressive array of impressions of famous female musicians.

On Saturday Night Live last night host Ariana Grande played the meek Chloe, who was called into emergency action to perform as a varied collection of female pop stars. First it was Britney Spears, followed by Shakira, Rihanna, Celine Dion, and finally Whitney Houston.

Some of these were so good you could have closed your eyes and not realized it was just an impersonation. I think Shakira was her best, followed by her Celine Dion, though her Rihanna was maybe the funniest and Whitney her most impressive. The bonus joke about Chloe not being Hispanic, but just “very very Italian” was also great.

Oh, and re-watch the Shakira section and focus on Bobby Moynihan‘s dance moves, because it’s the secret star of the whole thing.

Ariana-Grande-SNL-Group
In case you’re reading this before watching it I won’t spoil the other “musician” in the sketch, but it was a nice surprise.

This is not the first time SNL has done a sketch like this. A few years ago Bruno Mars played an intern who was called upon to save Pandora under the same circumstances. For reasons I don’t understand, NBC hasn’t made that sketch available online, so you’ll have to find it on your own. I highly encourage you to do so.

Which impression did you think was Grande’s best? Tell us which one gets your vote by using the comments section.
