Are You Ready for RESIDENT EVIL: THE MUSICAL?!

Twenty years ago, Capcom’s Resident Evil popularized the survival horror gaming genre. And now, Resident Evil a.k.a. Biohazard is becoming a survival horror musical in Japan!

Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi is overseeing the creation of Musical Biohazard: Voice of Gaia, which is being written and directed by the playwright known as G2. Musical Biohazard will reportedly feature a mix of ballet and action when it premieres in September at Tokyo’s Akasaka ACT Theater. This isn’t the first time that Biohazard/Resident Evil has been an official stage production, but it’s definitely the first musical.

Actress Reon Yuzuki has been signed to star in Musical Biohazard, but it’s possible that she may be portraying one of the male leads, given her history of playing men for Japan’s all-female Takarazuka Revue.

Musical Biohazard is described as “an original musical,” which may mean that it isn’t directly adapted from any of the games in the series. That said, it’s gonna be a missed opportunity if the musical doesn’t incorporate Barry Burton’s infamous “Jill Sandwich” line from RE 1 into a song lyric. Or perhaps Nemesis can perform a medley using the only word he can say: “STARS.” And if the musical is referencing the later games in the franchise, how about a song highlighting Ashley’s inability to stay out of trouble or the series’ annoying quick time events?

What do you think about the prospect of a Resident Evil musical? Do you want to see Chris and Leon sing a duet? Let us know in the comment section below!
