Andy Kaufman and Redd Foxx Go Back on Tour…As Holograms?!

The late Andy Kaufman and Redd Foxx were both innovative comedians and true legends within their chosen profession. While both men have been dead for years, that will apparently be only a minor stumbling block for their next comedy tour.

Hologram USA has announced plans to send Kaufman and Foxx on the road as holograms. The tour will reportedly recreate some of their most famous comedic bits, including Kaufman’s “Mighty Mouse” routine and Foxx’s fake heart attack gag. Using holograms to recreate famous musicians including Whitney Houston, Elvis Presley, and Tupac Shakur has become more common in recent years, but this may be the first time that audiences will be invited to watch (and pay to see) holographic comedians.

Kaufman considered himself to be more of a performance artist than a comedian, and this hologram gimmick may actually suit his persona. After Kaufman’s demise in 1984, several rumors persisted that he had faked his death from lung cancer. Kaufman had reportedly been interested in faking his death, and that only fueled the rumors of his survival. While Kaufman had a starring turn on a popular sitcom called Taxi, he is best remembered for his unique blend of comedy that challenged audience expectations.

Foxx made a name for himself in stand-up comedy during the ‘50s and ‘60s with material that was incredibly raunchy for the time. He recorded over 50 comedy records and he became even more famous for starring in Sanford and Son during the ‘70s. Foxx died on the set of his last sitcom, The Royal Family, in 1991 when he suffered an actual heart attack.

Comedy fans, would you pay to see holograms of Andy Kaufman and Redd Foxx performing their best material? Send your holograms to reply in the comment section below!
