America’s Giant Robot has Reached its Kickstarter Upgrade Goal

A little over two months ago the team over at MegaBots Inc. challenged Japan to a robot duel between their invention, the Mk.II, and the intimidating Kuratas mech from Suidobashi Heavy Industry. About a week later, Japan accepted that challenge, but offered the stipulation that it include melee combat between the robots. In order to be ready for that battle, MegaBots took to Kickstarter to raise the funds needed to get the Mk. II in proper shape for a good ol’ fashion robo-fist fight.

That Kickstarter campaign is nearing its end, but thankfully with only a few hours left on the clock, the MegaBots crew has surpassed their goal of $500,000, and are well on their way to representing America in the first ever international giant robot smackdown.

I think we can all get behind a fun and wacky zero-stakes battle between nations where we can let the steel fists do the fighting for us.

$500,000 was only the first stop on their list of desired upgrades to the Mk. II, and you still have a little under three days to donate if you want to help them upgrade further. Remember, you’re not only doing this for MegaBots, you are doing it for America! <eagle scree> Let us know how excited you are to see this showdown go down in the comments below!
