AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW Teaser Admits One

This morning, FX released the first official teaser for American Horror Story: Freak Show, along with a synopsis for the fourth season of the series.

And…

Wait, so are the aliens back? Because it got super weird when the aliens showed up in the second season of American Horror Story. According to the official synopsis, it’s set in my home state of Florida, and I can easily imagine a couple of extraterrestrials showing up to poke at the locals’ bits. So says FX:

American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.”

From the sounds of it, the writers of American Horror Story have been reading a little bit of Ray Bradbury since the last season wrapped. I’m alright with that.

After a trip to the ’60s with the Asylum season, a jaunt a little further back to the ’50s will be a chance to the series to take a look at some of the tensions of that decade down in the south. I’ve never personally been to Jupiter – it’s the birthplace of Tori Amos and oh god, you guys, what if Tori Amos makes a season four appearance in the show? Stevie Nicks has already set the precedent for beloved musical goddesses appearing on the series. I mean, it’d have to involve time travel or something, but I’m sure the show’s writers could make it work.

American Horror Story: Freak Show will premiere October 8 on FX.

First things first, Love Tori, love AHS, love nerdist! Secondly, I wish Tori Amos was from my hometown of Jupiter, Fl. She is not. We do have one. Out local celebrity is none other than Burton Lyon Reynolds Jr.
