Amber Heard Confirms Her Roles in JUSTICE LEAGUE and AQUAMAN

Earlier this year, Amber Heard was rumored to be up for a major role in the Justice League film and Aquaman. Those rumors have just been confirmed by Heard herself!

While appearing on Entertainment Tonight, Heard said that she will make her debut as Mera in Justice League: Part One before co-starring with Jason Momoa in the Aquaman movie. Justice League: Part One is currently in production and, according to Heard, her outfit is still being finalized.

“It’s interesting. It’s like, half suit of armor, half scales,” said Heard. “It’s strange… We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.”

Perhaps her costume looks something like this?

Mera

Jack Miller and Nick Cardy created Mera in 1963 as Aquaman’s wife and the Queen of Atlantis. More recently, Mera has been established as a strong heroine in her own right, with a stint on the Justice League Unlimited animated series and a much higher profile in DC’s comic book universe. Some of the early DC Expanded Universe rumors suggested that Mera could part of the movie’s titular Justice League, alongside Aquaman, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and the Flash. As rumors go, it’s certainly plausible.

But what can Mera bring to the table that Aquaman can’t? In addition to super-strength and the ability to breath underwater, Mera can create and manipulate hard water objects. Think of it as a water-based telekinesis.

Justice League: Part One will surface in theaters on November 17, 2017, while the Aquaman film is slated to follow on July 27, 2018.
