Amanda Seyfried Joins the Cast of Showtime’s New TWIN PEAKS

Filming has been going on for Showtime’s revival of Twin Peaks for a few weeks now up in North Bend and Snoqualmie in Washington State, the same locale that the original pilot and feature film were shot over twenty-five years ago. Despite a ton of photos leaking out of the production early on, director and series co-creator David Lynch asked fans to stop posting pics that could be considered spoilery online, and Lynch’s ever loyal fans complied. And when that happened, the flurry of news coming from the set stopped.

However, one bit of news has just leaked out, in spite of the crew of Twin Peaks‘ best efforts to keep new cast members (and returning classic cast members) a secret: Amanda Seyfried has been seen on the set, and is all but confirmed for a mystery role on the show. Seyfried is best known for her roles in movies like Mean Girls, Les Misérables, and Lovelace, as well as HBO’s Big Love, but one of Seyfried’s earliest and best-known roles was that of murdered high school girl Lily Kane, whose mysterious death sparked the season-long crime behind the first (and best) season of Veronica Mars. Ever since the show aired, the character of Lily Kane was compared to Twin Peaks‘ own murdered high school blonde, Laura Palmer, so Seyfried’s casting is only fitting.

Since the production on Twin Peaks is so tight, we know next to nothing about who Amanda Seyfried is playing, although TV Line speculates that she could be playing the daughter of Kyle MacLachlan’s Agent Dale Cooper and his girlfriend Annie Blackburn, played by Heather Graham. Come to think of it…Seyfried does look a bit like a young Heather Graham. Could they be on to something? Who knows, but it’s sure fun to speculate about!

The new season of Twin Peaks is currently shooting in Washington State until the end of September, then moves production to Southern California, and is said to be shooting in LA through May of 2016. No official air date has been given for the show yet, although it’s looking more and more like the show will finally hit the air in 2017.

Are you excited about new blood being added to Twin Peaks, or were you just hoping for the old cast, and not a bunch of kids? Let us know in the comments below!
