ALTERED CARBON Has a GAME OF THRONES Easter Egg Hidden in Plain Sight

At first glance, Netflix’s latest sci-fi series Altered Carbon has very little in common with the fantasy epic Game of Thrones. But some eagle-eyed fans have noticed a subtle connection between the two series that suggests that the Light of the Seven shines down upon the dark future envisioned by author Richard Morgan.

Via Metro, a fan on Reddit spotted a seven-pointed star in the background of Altered Carbon‘s third episode, when Oumou Prescott visits a police station to invite Kristin Ortega to a party hosted by the Bancroft family. It’s easy to miss if you don’t know what to look for, but you can check out this image for future reference.

Does that look familiar? If not, then perhaps this will jog your memory.

That star is the symbol of the Faith of the Seven, and it was prominently featured at the Great Sept of Baelor, at least until a certain vengeful queen made sure that the Sept and everyone inside were no more. Now, it could be a coincidence that both shows have a seven-pointed star. But considering that director Miguel Sapochnik has helmed episodes of Game of Thrones and Altered Carbon (though not the episode in question, granted), we think there might be an unspoken tether between the series.

Metro‘s report also noted that fans have supposedly found Duncan McCloud’s sword from the Highlander TV series and an audio sample from Ramin Djawadi’s Westworld score. We’ll just have to watch Altered Carbon‘s first season again to see if we can spot these and other references!

What do you think about the Game of Thrones callback in Altered Carbon? Have the Faith Militant found their way into the multiverse? Let us know what you’re thinking in the comment section below!
