ALL of MTV Gets Theirs in Hilarious SCREAM Promo

I am old enough to have seen the original Scream in the movie theaters. Not only that, but I was old enough to understand that not only was it meant to be scary as hell, but also a self-aware send-up of slasher flicks as a whole. While the sequels went a tad bit off the rails, the first film stands the test the time as a classic. This summer, we are once again taken back to this world in a new series on MTV. Starring Bex-Taylor Klaus (Arrow), this time it’s a viral video that acts as a catalyst for a series of grisly murders in the town of Lakewood, and the only thing that’s trending…is terror.

However, before menacing Lakewood, Scream‘s killer has decided to stop by MTV and clean house. In this hilarious trailer, we scan a house party with bodies of basically EVERYONE from MTV strewn about. Stabbed, sliced, poked, gutted — you name, it happened.  Among the victims are Katie Stevens (Faking It), Johnny “Bananas” (The Challenge), Steelo Brim and Chanel West Coast (Ridiculousness), Anna Jacoby-Heron (Finding Carter), and the reason most teens watch MTV right now, Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf). I guess his wolf powers don’t protect him from getting stabbed in the head.

You can see the first trailer for Scream here. I am glad to see the series is going towards the self-awareness that made the first movie so great.

Scream premieres Tuesday, June 30th, on MTV.

So what say you? Are you on board? Do you think the campiness and satire the original movie brought will translate in 2015? Let me know on Twitter or in the comments below.
