An ALF Reboot Could Be on the Way

If you have any feline friends at home, you might want to hide them, since very soon the cats of Earth could once again be at risk of becoming a certain alien’s meal. It turns out that Alf just might be the latest beloved TV series from the ’80s and ’90s to return with all new episodes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is currently developing a revival of the series about the lovable furry alien from Melmac who found a new home on Earth with an average American family. While there is no network attached to this new iteration yet, the original series’ writers Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco (who was also Alf’s puppeteer) are also said to be returning to work on the project. While that’s all that’s known about this new version of the show, work on the project apparently began this past May.

Sometimes old shows come back and destroy their original legacy. But the nice thing about an Alf reboot is that the titular alien is still one of the best, most likable characters in TV history, whose series ended too soon after only four seasons on NBC between 1986 and 1990. The only bad thing about an Alf reboot is that we may have to hide all of our cats.

What do you make of this news? Do you want to see Alf return? Tell us why (or why not, if that’s the way you’re leaning!) in the comments section below.
