Aimee Mann IS the Common Cold in the New Video From 2776

You know about the upcoming all-star comedy album 2776: A Millenium of American Asskickery, a review of the first millenium of American history well before that millenium is in fact complete, from our presentation of the zombie boy band at Comic-Con, and from the first video from the album, with Yo La Tengo, Ira Glass, and Eugene Mirman. And you know that it’s the creation of our pal, Conan/The Daily Show writer Rob Kutner, with The Tonight Show writer Joel Moss Levinson and Steven Levinson, and appearances planned by Andrew W.K., Will Forte, Patrick Stewart, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Martha Plimpton, the Sklar Brothers, Paul F. Tompkins, Maria Bamford, Jonathan Katz, Simon Helberg, Ed Helms, and many more. It’s all in the vein of the classic comedy album Stan Freberg Presents the United States of America, and it promises to be pretty epic.

Speaking of epic, though, here’s the second video from the album, a song about the cure for the common cold, who happens to be played by Aimee Mann. No, actually, it’s a song BY the common cold, lamenting that science, in the person of David Wain and Dave Foley, has cured her:

Proceeds from the album and singles will go to the charity OneKid OneWorld. So go buy the single on iTunes, help a good cause, and… oh, geez, COVER YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU SNEEZE.
