Adele Debuts “When We Were Young” from New Album

Well hello again to you, Adele.

The mega pop star has released another new track from her forthcoming album, 25, and it’s pretty damn excellent.

This version of “When We Were Young” is actually a live one from The Church Studios, and while not quite as dramatic as her first release, “Hello,” from the new album, it is definitely an Adele song in all the best ways: soulful, powerful, and incredibly beautiful.

The song seems almost understated, and I mean that in a good way, as it builds to its ending crescendo. The harmonizing of the background singers is an especially beautiful element of the song, but if you think Adele doesn’t get to show off her incredible voice, don’t worry, she does.

It doesn’t seem like much of a stretch to predict this album, her third, is going to be huge. The video for “Hello” was only posted on October 22nd and it already has over 394 million views. This video for “When We Were Young” posted today, November 17, and as of this writing is already near 800,000 views on its own.

Adele’s album 25 will be released this Friday, November 20, and the next night you can watch her live as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. The host is Matthew McConaughey, so, uh, yeah, we’ll be tuning in this week.

What do you think of the new song? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below while we listen to it for the fifth straight time. And if you somehow have not heard her first single, “Hello”, you can listen just below.
